A show where Bet - a stunt driver - teaches folks to drive stick…

…and by the end we feel like hot shit!

What is Hot Shift?

A series that shows you belong in the driver’s seat, no matter who you are.

Hot Shift is part manual driving lesson and part interview show that’s about the journey of becoming who you are and overcoming things you thought weren’t possible for you.

In each episode, trained stunt driver Bet Heykoop guides guests through the process of learning to drive stick as we get to see people in the process of learning something new - publicly learning, failing, breaking through, and ultimately succeeding.

HOT SHIFT is my love letter to anyone that has felt excluded or "othered" by the car world.

I want to show more women and queer people behind the wheel, living their best lives, and feeling empowered to exist in the car space that has traditionally not valued us.

Also to show the process of learning stick as less intimidating and full of love.

About Bet

Once she saw The Italian Job when she was 13, she knew she was supposed to be a Stunt Driver.

Born and raised in LA, Bet Heykoop is a trained stunt driver. After conquering a career in tech, she pursued her childhood dream of stunt driving, and has solidified herself in the auto space by collaborating with racing teams and industry leaders such as: Formula E racing series, Petersen Automotive Museum, McLaren Formula 1 Team, Verizon, Aston Martin Formula 1 team, Barton Perreira, and Hollywood Classic Cars.

Positioned as an insider in a male-dominated industry, Bet brings a new perspective to the world of driving and racing, with the goal of putting fresh faces behind the wheel.

She created the series Hot Shift, which is part interview show and part manual driving lesson. This was in response to the gatekeeping of women and queer people in the automotive industry due to a perceived lack of skill and interest, and for not knowing how to drive stick. Bet’s mission is to subvert mainstream “car culture” and show how cars are threads of connection to identity, memory, and self expression.
